White Camp Sweeps FBC Polls

The Fourah Bay College election has ended. Alfred Minkailu Koroma aka (Political Harrash) has won the election by defeating Francess Mark with a total of 1,720 votes whilst Francess scored 1,579.

The swearing in ceremony took place at the Mary Kinsley Hall FBC Campus yesterday which attracted hundreds of students from various departments of the campus, formal Fourahbites who were members of the Generals Family and representatives from the university administration and some members of the press.

The chairman of the program Mr. Bia Mamud Bangura Senior executive member of the APC Youth Wing expressed delight over the maturity displayed by the students during the election. He said the swearing in program was a significant milestone in the lives of students of not only the college but for the entire country as well. Mr. Bangura admonished students to work and respect the president if they want the Student Union executive to maximize students’ welfare on campus.

The guest speaker of the program Alhaji Abu Komeh who was a former student union president dashed on the stage with white coat which depicted that he was the president that brought liberation at Fourah Bay College after years of rule from the black camp. He maintained that his leadership has paved the way of all the successful white government at the college which the present elected government was not and exceptional.

Mr. Komeh commended the electoral commission for its relentless effort in making the election free and fair. He however admonished the elected president that student union activities are not an easy task as he should ensure that they work together in an open and transparent manner.

Komeh noted that he believes in the presidency of Minkailu as he has worked with him when he was president, adding that Minkailu’s records are clean. He implored on students to come together for the common good of the development of the college and maintain their interpersonal relationship amongst themselves.

Alfred Minkailu Koroma, in his a brief statement promised to work towards the expectations of his colleagues. He said that he would not talk much as he will spell out all his plans and policies during his inaugural speech. He expressed thanks and appreciation to all those who voted for him and called on all students who would want to work with him to come on board and foster the interest of fellow students on campus.
