Ambassador Felix Koroma Calls for 80% Youth Representation in Governance

Having examined the proposed bill on youths and women tabled in parliament, former Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to United Nations, Ambassador Felix A. Koroma holds that the youths and women combined deserves 80% representation if we are to move Sierra Leone forward.

The Ambassador notes and informed this press that for far too long youths and women have been deprived of being part of governance in a very large scale and in view of this the development of our country has being forestall for far too long.

The Ambassador indicated that several reasons could be attributed to this reason ranging from cultural to deliberate forgetfulness.

However, the Ambassador pointed out that semblance of youths and women representation began to reflect in governance under the previous regime and that the current regime also has some youth and women representations.

Notwithstanding all of these, the Ambassador highlighted the need why youths and women should take the lead in governance. According to him these two groups are energetic, modern and are directly affected with the problems of development and because of these they know how to address contemporary challenges.

He concluded by hoping that political parties will consider his submission and the cries of the youths and women when they decides on their representations.
