‘APC Must Embrace their Leadership’ Asserts Amb. Felix A. Koroma
In an exclusive interview by this medium, the former UN permanent Representative to the USA, Ambassador Felix A. Koroma revealed that the outcome of the 2018 Presidential and general elections came as a shock and dismay to many members and supporters of the All Peoples Congress (APC). By their estimation they do not believe that based on the hard work of the party under the astute leadership of former President Ernest Bai Koroma should the party loss power. He expressed that in accounting for that loss, his party set up a Nine-man committee followed by a Constitutional Review Committee (C.R.C.). The dynamic young Ambassador whose loyalty to his party remains unflinching, in a rather perturbed mood intimated this writer that the process of addressing the problems of the party gave birth to Controversies, dissenting opinions and fallouts. These Controversies he says are complete weaknesses when it comes to measuring the effectiveness of the party.
In a positive encounter, he unleashed that in its bid to restore the glory of the party, the listening leadership in its wisdom have decided to serve the collective interest of the party amidst its considerable Goodwill, by expunging the objected ” Selection/Consultation clause” and call for an early convention. In his own words, he stated that ” This move is well received by Sierra Leoneans especially the Youths of the party who hold the view that hence the leadership believes that there is need for ” fresh heads and hands” to run the affairs of the party, has proven that the party is very responsive to time and believes in the principle of apprenticeship. This action is expected to unite the party and makes the APC formidable to reclaim Statehouse come 2023 elections. Its further underscore that the APC is a listening Grassroots party. In that, such action is in responsiveness and preparedness to solve the current vicissitude Socio-economic situation of our people, he said. This is a well received action and should be embraced by all with no iota of doubt, speculations or suspicions. We should use this trying moment to *TRUST* our Leadership and unite the party for the general good of the nation. We need to maintain openness, patience and restore belief in the transition process. I am sure the leadership will note our concerns while taking decisions. We should divest ourselves from strong ties to internal camps when considering what it has cost us in the past and put more premium on the leadership and the party. I am optimistic that if we stay focused, *VICTORY* is sure to be ours come 2023 elections” the ambassador concluded.
