As He Calls for DNA Facility Owizz Says Sexual Penetration Cases Depend on Scientific Proof
The Government Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma has encouraged Government and philanthropist to help facilitate the DNA technology in Sierra Leone to expedite investigation on sexual penetration cases.
Dr. Koroma made the appeal last Thursday when he was updating the media on a sexual penetration matter involving a one year four months and sixteen days old baby [name withheld] at the Police headquarters conference room in Freetown.
He described the complete missing of the DNA technology in the country as a big problem and observed sexual penetration cases globally depends on scientific prove. He explained the need to improve mortuary infrastructure in the country. However, the trained Forensic Scientist expressed gratitude to President Julius Maada Bio who he said, is now working harder to have a diagnostic centre in Sierra Leone. But Dr. Owizz queried, when the construction of the diagnostic centre will be actualize because according to him it is during that duration such cases are coming up.
On the issue of the one year four months and sixteen days old baby at Kargbo Drive who was allegedly sexually penetrated, Dr. Koroma said every part of her anatomy was broken while he continued, the legs and feet were smashed, swollen vagina and bruised vulva. He said after he had physically examined the body, he submitted the report to the Police for onward to the court.
