SLPP’S Sidi Tunis Undresses Technical Audit Report

The leader of Government Businesses at the Sierra Leone House of Parliament, Hon. Sidi Yahya Tunis, representing the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) has said that the Forensic Audit Report, which was launched past Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019 by the Minister of Finance and the Financial Secretary, contravenes the constitution of Sierra Leone. The SLPP strong man was responding to an interview by a local radio station, Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, where he stated that the constitution of Sierra Leone mandated every audit report undertaken to first be laid in the House of Parliament before it goes out public.

According to the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Minister of Finance and Financial Secretary, the recent Forensic Audit Report revealed that the past APC government stole in excess of US$1 billion in three years (2015 – 2018).

Now just this morning of 4th April, 2019, the Leader of SLPP Government business in Parliament, Hon. Mohamed Sidi Tunis has publicly refuted that on the airwaves as totally untrue and incorrect, because according to Hon Tunis, all Audit Reports are mere opinions that have to be proved.

Citing relevant Sections of our National Constitution, The Leader of SLPP Government business Hon Tunis concluded  that all Audit Reports should FIRST be laid before Parliament, before the details are broadcast, inferring that the SLPP Minister of Finance and Financial Secretary were wrong to have  broadcasted the Forensic Audit Report without first tabling it in Parliament, publicly concluded that an amount of US $1 billion was stolen by the past APC administration without legal proof of evidence, acted as a Court of Law and Judge and Jury by pronouncing verdicts -abs even giving deadlines for refunds – over matters that remain *mere opinions* until proven to be correct.

Many Sierra Leoneans have therefore commended the brave and courageous of the law maker in calling a spade a spade even when it goes against his own political party. It is indeed a show of patriotism.
