Why Koroma’s Resignation Worries SLPP Gov’t

It has come to the notice of Sierra Express Media (SEM) that political heavyweights in the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) led Government of President Julius Maada Bio are worried and having sleepless nights as a result of their haste to see that former President, Ernest Bai Koroma (in photo), resign from active politics and take the back seat.

According to revelation, the SLPP Government wanted to see the quick resignation of ex-President Koroma for the fact that he still remains the most popular politician in the country’s national politics and possessed the ability to galvanize support for the All Peoples Congress (APC) to come back in power by 2023.

According to reliable sources from vote controllers in the APC, former President Koroma has proven that he doesn’t want to continue holding the position of Chairman and Leader of the party by tendering letters of resignation twice to the hierarchies of the party, but each time, he was turned down with the motive that, it is too early for Koroma to resign from party and active politics as he still remains the people’s desire.

The source revealed that the APC party will not agree for ex-President Koroma to take the back seat until after the party’s convention which is expected to be held between 2021 or 2022.

In that regard, members of the main opposition APC are calling on the SLPP Government to concentrate on bread and butter issues which are the main concern of the general populace, and leave the APC alone to run its political affairs as a party which has transformed the country from grass to grace.

Sierra Leoneans are proud of ex-President Koroma for creating and leaving an outstanding legacy across the country under his tenure of office. In fact that was the reason thousands of people took to the streets in solidarity of Koroma when he was questioned by police officers in his hometown of Makeni.

“Ernest Bai Koroma, you are our son and a true leader, we remain loyal to you ’till death,” Makeni residents averred.
