SLPP ‘Kamajors’ Attack Sierra Express Media Again in Sierra Leone

Some Kamajor-looking buffoons, dressed in SLPP attire, allegedly acting on orders from above, have again in the evening hours of Monday, 21st January, 2019 at around 10: 00 p.m., attacked members of staff of Sierra Express Media at the institution’s new office on Kissy road, Freetown leaving its editor badly injured.

The latest attack is now the fourth in nine months since the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) administration of the former junta leader Julius Maada Bio came to power in April last year.

This attack according to the words of the attackers is not unconnected with this medium’s unshakable stance of checkmating the excesses of the Paopa government which has now seen it members of staff especially its young and dynamic editor, Mr. Ibrahim Alusine Kamara becoming a prime target of destruction for the Paopa officials and their supporters.

The attackers, 13  in number, came singing their usual PAOPA slogan ‘’ Maada Bio oooo, Maada Bio aaaa’’ and fully prepared with offensive weapons including sticks, cutlasses and stones and forcefully enter the newspaper’s premises causing terror and raining insults on members of staff.

One of the attackers was heard saying in Krio ‘’we nor go ever stop until we get all of una especially una boss, Adeyemi n da una foolish and useless editor out of the picture,’’ which means they will not stop until all the staff of Sierra Express Media, especially the Proprietor/Publisher, and the editor, are out of the way.

Another of the attackers was also heard saying ‘enti una say na maada una fasin, una go die before una tem dem.’’

Even though our complaints to concerned authorities on the previous attacks on this medium have gone blatantly unattended to, Sierra Express Media is still calling on them, especially the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), the Independent Media Commission (IMC), Sierra Leone Police, and all those concerned to come to our rescue in order to put a stop to this menace.
