Over Former VP’s Reunion with EBK Confusion Reigns in SLPP
Pandemonium, shock, speechlessness and confusion have engulfed the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) rank and file as Sierra Leone’s former Vice President and the March, 2018 Presidential candidate of the Coalition for Change (C4C), Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana, mended fences with former President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, his former boss.
Since the news of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and Sam Sumana reunion broke out, operatives of the SLPP have gone berserk on social media platforms cooking up all sorts of foolish stories against the former VP who is universally acclaimed for his peaceful nature.
It could be recalled that Mr. Sam Sumana was for seven years Sierra Leone’s Vice President under the Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma All Peoples Congress (APC) administration before the duos relationship got sour which consequently resulted in his expulsion from the APC party and his subsequent sacking.
Since his sacking, Sam Sumana has kept his cool and remains peaceful throughout those trying times and subsequently formed his own political party, the Coalition for Change (C4C) in the run up to the March, 2018 elections which was to later become a militating factor against his former APC party from winning the election as his C4C party swept the entire Kono district which was initially controlled by the APC. When the election went to a runoff between his former party and the Sierra Leone Peoples Party, Sam Sumana was heavily rumored to have supported the APC because of his forgiven spirit and made frantic efforts to convince his Kono people into supporting the APC in the runoff.
Since then, rumors of his return to his former party increases on a daily basis and upon his return to the country few weeks ago, he publicly declared that he has forgiven the APC party for his expulsion and sacking and therefore asked every of his supporter to do same. This declaration was followed by his visit to the former President and his former boss, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma in Makeni where he the duo made peace.
However, this move has angered the rank and file of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) who has now resorted in cooking up foolish stories as to why Sam Sumana reunited with his former boss.
