SLPP Texas rule control of SLPP North America

In New York, it seems like the branch of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in North America (SLPP-NA) convention that was convened in October 28 this year recorded to be the most exciting political-convention season in decades. 25 members of the party in Dallas, including the chairlady, Mrs. Doris Bright (in photo) enthusiastically flew from Dallas to participate in the convention.

What many people can say is a historic event is the fact that the elections altered the political landscape of the party in North America when two brothers, Mr. Joseph Macarthy and Daniel Macarthy clinched the positions of Assistance Organizing secretary and chief whip respectively.  Mr. Amadu Amara was also elected as the vice chairman and Ms. Annmarie Williams won the position of Secretary General for the women’s wing.

Confidence in delegation and leadership of the SLPP Dallas chapter, Mrs. Doris Bright admirably lead the twenty-five man delegation from her chapter to participate in the convention. It was the biggest event since the general elections in March this year.

The shifting balance of power in the SLPP-NA on this elections gave greater political weight to the branch for election a popular Fullah tribe person for the first time to head the North American branch of Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). The victory of the movie star, Mr. Mohamed Bah of Houston Texas who won the chairmanship in a landslide victory to lead the party in North America for the next two years was due to the enthusiastic support with which the Texas members favored him for the chairmanship position.

Observers in the convention says, the elections result of the SLPP-NA 2018 substantiate the continuation of the trends the political party’s victor from the March 2018 general elections for the country’s presidency in the homeland.

Towards the end of the year 2018, the signs are more auspicious for the Dallas chapter of the Sierra Leone People’s Party in America than at any time since President Bio took over power as president of Sierra Leone in April 2018. It is certainly heralding the beginning of a new era seeing four major appointments acquired by the Dallas chapter, from Chief immigration officer to Ambassadorial positions.

The city of Dallas in Texas is becoming one of those cities in the diaspora on which fortune deigns to smile at any time new government reign in Sierra Leone. In the last administration former president Erbest Bai Koroma, two people, Mr. Sheku Tejan Koroma and Ms. Nanette Thomas both from the same cities of Dallas Fort Worth, also gained ministerial positions.
