First Media Group Showcase Sport Talent

First Media Group, a communication and information institution that deals with directory, intercom, sports and athletics, is preparing to organize an athletic competition in Freetown come November this year. The well planned competition is called “The DIAMOND LEAGUE”. That ceremonious event will take place at the Attouga Mini Stadium, East of Freetown.

Speaking to this medium over the weekend, the CEO of the group Mr. Mohamed El-Tayyib Bah son of the late Tayyib Bah noted that in Line with their lucrative idea as an organization working forward in propagating the new direction fulfillment, they thought it fit that many untapped talents are not seen. He added that their research as professional sports developers showed clearly that we have enough talented young personnel that could take this nation to another level in athletics and sports, maintaining that if opportunities are given to carry out such programmes the country will surely bring out successful sports talent and will improve healthy nation for youth participation. He disclosed that he has presented his proposal to the minister of sports who have shown keen interest for his good initiatives and have also held discussion with the president of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association. He maintained that the organization aimed at bringing young people with sporting talents together and decentralize it secretariat at district level to reach all the four (4) corners of the country. He called on Government, through the Ministry of sport, Health and Education to contribute both in cash and kind to fund this programme, so that they could give values with novelty to the country.

The Programme manager- Mr. Ibrahim Turay said, the aim and objectives of the programme is to educate potential sport leaders and existing coaches in a way that develops their knowledge and skills alongside their understanding to contribute towards individual and community developments.
