Pulpit Foundation Ends National Islamic Preaching Competition

In his welcome address, the Director and Founder of the organization, Mr. Kelfala Papis Sankoh noted that the organization aimed at grooming and preparing young children to become good leaders in society.

He disclosed that the fifteen (15) pupils who participated in this year’s competition are going to be awarded one year scholarship including uniforms and bags from the organization and described the event of such nature as very important for children at elementary level so that they can accept Islam as their faith. He called on relevant institutions to help decentralized the initiative countrywide.

Keynote Speaker, Sheik Sampha Mansaray, Chief Imam of Masjid Umar Bunkartab Rawdon Street, Freetown spoke on the theme ‘life after Ramadan’. He noted that Muslims should observe their five daily prayers even after Ramadan and encouraged them to pray regularly not occasionally.

He maintained that some Muslims are worshipping Ramadan for the fact that they only offer prayers during fasting.

He commended the organizers for their good initiatives to tap knowledge of young Islamic scholars who have demonstrated academic excellent in Islamic Dawah.  He encouraged Sheik Tais Academy and Imam Bundu Islamic School to steadfast in their prayers and knowledge seeking.

Distribution of certificates and cash prices climaxed the event.

Alhaji Mawiya T. Sow of Sheik Tais Academy emerged as winner of the competition and Abdurrahman Koroma of Imam Bundu Islamic School as runner up. The two winners are now ambassadors of the Pulpit Foundation.
