Bumbuna Maintenance Completed What’s Next For Our Electricity Supply?

As a nation, we are very much anticipating that electricity supply should not be a topical issue under President Julius Maada Bio’s new direction for the fact that there was free flow of energy supply in the Ernest Bai Koroma All Peoples Congress (APC) led Government in Freetown and across headquarter towns in the provincial areas.

We are optimistic that the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) will act upon its word this time round for the public to have confidence in them by fulfilling the promise of making Freetown municipality and the country at large enjoy 24 hours non-stop power distribution.

Very recently, EDSA pronounced that Freetown is suffering from acute blackout because Bumbuna Hydro Electric Power (HEP) is under intense annual maintenance to improve the system ahead of the raining season.

According to a statement released by EDSA, the Bumbuna water fall maintenance had commenced since Sunday 20th and expected to be completed not after the 30th of May 2018. That is why we are praying as a country for the authority’s statement never to be a lip service but must be put into action as expected by the general public.

Sierra Leoneans were happy with the Ernest Bai Koroma’s administration because it’s prioritized energy supply in the capital city of Freetown and decentralized it in the provinces. We are expecting the leadership of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) to follow suit under the supervision of the no-nonsense Minister of Energy, Kanja Sesay.

Minister Kanja Sesay demonstrated his readiness to strengthen power supply in the country by strictly warning all staff of the ministry to be steadfast in their duty or give up their jobs if not willing to work.

We are hopeful that the new direction of President Bio will not allow blackout to be business as usual although citizens are worried over the continuous blackout since SLPP took over the mantle of Governance.
