Bio’s Unannounced Visit Panics Youyi Building Workers

It was like a judgment day among senior and junior staff of Youyi Building when His Excellency President Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio paid an unannounced visit to know if Government workers going for duty on time.

President Bio arrived at Youyi Building which hosted various Ministries Department Agencies at around 8:30am, relevant sources say, he ordered security guards to close the two gates and must not allow anyone to enter until he leaves.

Workers who came after the President were worried with the thought that they were going to lose their jobs but according to information, the visit of His Excellency targeted vote controllers like Ministers, Directors and Permanent Secretaries but not junior staff.

Eye witnesses say, President Bio started his inspection visit from the ground to the ninth floor to see if staff adhered to the 8:30 working hours but reports say, not all senior staff were on their seats by the time of his visit.

However, some workers argued that they arrived earlier than 8:30 in the compound but they were forcefully asked to go out of the compound.

A man who was inspecting Government vehicles said although he arrived earlier than the stipulated working hours but removed forcefully by one of the bodyguards dressed in black coat and tie. A woman who was in a tearful mood also explained a similar story.

Moreover, some people commended the action of the President and described it as timely for the fact that it is a usual habit for some people to always arrive late at their work places while others argued that, coming late to work is not an option but unavoidable factors like traffic congestion and long distances responsible for their lateness because many do not have private vehicles to fast track their daily movement.
