President Koroma says Ajisafi must comply

His Excellency president Ernest Bai Koroma has instructed the Secretary to President Osho Coker to write the Permanent Secretary of Information and Communication that the said agreement of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which was being prepared by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Serry Kamal to order Reverend Ajisafi and residents of Sawi Drive to comply to the MOU signed in the matter of the residents reportedly being disturbed by the praise and worship session of the church; which many say is against the laws of the country. This was made known at the press conference held at the residence of Mr. Alex Steven, a resident at B24. Kingherman Road.  Residents are waiting on Minister I.B. Kargbo, to return from abroad as there are now plans to relocate the Sanctuary Praise Church.

Mr. Steven stated that the mode of worship by Pastor Ajisafi is very bad as it causes sleepless and restless nights for peaceful residents living in the area. According to Mr. Steven, even the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, who is also a resident of the area, is said to have personally complained about the mode of worship of Sanctuary Praise Church.

Mr. Steven lamented that it is a ploy to extort money from people’s estate and this is why Rev. Victor Ajisafi is coming up with ‘Let My Gate Be Opened’ praise sessions that have turned into making hell on earth for the peace of the people of the community.

The community alleged that the Sanctuary Praise Church during their Worship sessions disturb the peace and tranquility of the environment by their singing, shouting and clapping; children in the neighborhood had cause to abandon their homes to study elsewhere during examinations periods, Sierra Express Media has been informed.

“The population of the church has overwhelmed its present location, hence sanitary and other environmental factors have become an embarrassment to the community,” residents complained to the media. “Rev. Victor Ajisafe incites his congregation against the community particularly Supt. Alex Stevens who is perceived as enemy of the church because he stands for the right and freedom of the people,” a concerned resident told our reporter.

The monthly “Let My Gate Be Opened” programme hinders the free movement of residents and vehicular traffic in the neighborhood at the end of every month, a situation that has harassed the lives of people for a very long time now; residents say.

All night prayers deprives the community of a peaceful night’s rest and Rev. Victor Ajisafe has no respect for authority and ignores government’s moratorium on the construction of his church with the saying that he was ordained to build his church in that particular environment.

Rev. Ajisafe also falsified documents purportedly signed by the community to allow him to continue the construction of his church against a presidential injunction on the erection of his church in 1997, but the Reverend Pastor has refused to comment on the issue saying that he talks only to his God.

A ‘stop work’ order was flouted on several occasions by the church to the extent that both the police and Ministry of Lands and Country Planning Officials were manhandled by members of the church whilst executing their duties as government functionaries.

The Community therefore demanded a relocation of the church.

Members on the other hand said that; their membership has increased to over 5,000 who have done their best to co-exist with the community, except Supt. Alex Stevens and Mr. L.A.C Myers who are refusing to accept them.

As part of their expansion project they intend to extend the road leading to the church to alleviate the problem of traffic congestion.

The church has reduced the worship hours to at most 1 hour to 30 minutes to allow the communities to enjoy their peace and quiet and state they have not at any time flouted government orders whilst erecting their church edifice.
