Ajisafi Defies Presidential Orders!

Sequel to the resolution of the dispute between Sanctuary Praise Church and residents of Sawi Drive, Off Kingharman road on December 5th 2008, President Ernest Bai Koroma directed that the Attorney General’s office draft a memorandum of understanding for both parties to sign and avoid future breaches of the recommendations of the mediating committee.

Report have it that the MOU was drafted and forwarded to the Ministry of Information and Communication on March 18th 2009 and has since not been signed by Rev. Victor Ajisafe; a situation which one of the residents  commented that “he cannot do this kind of thing in Nigeria by disobeying presidential orders.”

It could be recalled that the people of Sawi Drive in Brook Fields, Freetown have been complaining over the mode of worship of Sanctuary Praise Church as they are causing sleepless night and restless day for the community people; a situation they have noted in all serious term is in defiance of the 1965 public order Act.

Over the years, there have been series of allegations and counter allegations leading to police or court intervention as a way of appeasing the strongest party at the time as the government was trapped between protecting the rights of its citizens in the community without being accused also of committing a sacrilegious act. The church cognisance of this seeming “Weakness” on the party successive governments has refused to heed to the complaints of the community residents thereby deepening the crisis which later transformed itself into a clash of personalities wherein both sides took advantage of either their political affiliation or used their offices to settle scores.

A Win-Win approach which the government of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma instituted to lay the decade long dispute in order for Sanctuary Praise Church to be relocated on February 1st 2010 has been flouted by Rev. Victor Ajisafe in utter disregard for the authority and orders of the first gentleman in the country.

Mr. Chico Myers, a community Member told this press that during their worship sessions the church disturbs the peace and tranquility of the entire community using PA system and mega phones during their praise and worship sessions.

What has baffled community members is the fact that the Inspector General of police, Brima Acha Kamara is unable to resolve the dispute and enforce the law for which he is the Sheriff.
