Lifetime scholarship for pupil Ambassador Assures
Former Sierra Leone Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Haja Alare Cole has offered lifetime scholarship to Kadija Alima Sesay.
The woman of God made the offer to the brilliant school pupil in Freetown last week during a ceremony marking the Birthday celebration of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) at the jam-packed Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.
Kadija secured the lifetime educational scholarship after reading and interpreting a lengthy Quranic verse in the full view of hundreds of Imams and other Muslim worshippers.
Kadija Sesay started Quranic learning at an early age at the Masjid Kuba, Leah Street in Freetown where many children have acquired Islamic education through the teachings of a young Islamic scholar called ‘Teacher Kabbah’.
Alima’s father, Mr. Alieu B. Sesay, is the Training Manager at the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation Computer Studies at 25 Garrison Street, and her mother, Mrs. Mariama Sesay, is a housewife.
Many participants at the forum labeled the girl as a humble beginner and described the ceremony as a wakeup call for other children to develop interest in acquiring Islamic education across the country.
They prayed for the innocent girl to be guided by Allah so that she will become a wonderful woman of God.
The ceremony was graced by the Freetown Central Mosque Imam and Head of Shite Community in Sierra Leone, Sheikh Ahmed Tejan Sillah, the Cultural Consul for the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), Chief Imam, Themne Central Mosque, Dr. Salieu Kamara and many women of God among others.
