Disaster Alert Network Sierra Leone Donates to Disaster Victims
In a bid to carry out its humanitarian development activities, the Disaster Alert Network Sierra Leone (DAN-SL), has intervened in the activities surrounding the assistance to flood and mudslide victims of the 14th August, 2017 by providing the survivors of Regent and other parts with food and non-food items worth millions of Leones.
During the presentation of the items to the victims the Administrative Manager, Madam Aminata Jalloh expressed her heartfelt condolences to those who died and survivors of the terrible disaster which she described as an enemy of the state and progress.
She said that the donation came about after they have sent their volunteers to the 5 affected areas and counsel them it is during this work that the victims explained to them about what they are in need of and it the main reason they provided the victims with bundles of Water, cloths and others items that the victims are in need of that cost them a lot of money.
Aminata Jalloh said that they did the donation in support of Frank Bakley and Associate.
Madam Aminata Jalloh said that this terrible mudslide and flooding has subjected the nation to depression and she does not want to lose a single life but God knows best and she is saddened by the calamity, and wished the sick speedy recovery.
She prayed for the souls of the dead to rest in perfect peace and commended government and partners for their swift response and constant support to rescue victims.
Aminata Jalloh continued that she always thinks of the hundreds of people who perished in the disaster and the reason for the donation is complement government effort to alleviate the plight of victims disclosing she hold the view that her organization is very passionate about lives and welfare of all Sierra Leoneans and appealed to victims to be courageous and have faith as all is not lost assuring them of her organization constant support to them.
This was not the first time for my organization has responded to the call of disaster victims or the poor and marginalized as they have been doing so to all affected communities.
Receiving the items, the Assistance Research Officer of ONS, Mr. Daniel Salifu Mansaray emphasized that the donation is not only timely but would help alleviate the sufferings of victims and appealed to other individuals and institutions to emulated the sterling example of Disaster Alert Network Sierra Leone (DAN-SL) affirming that the items would help address the plight of the suffering and pray that such a calamity never happens again in the country or the Word.
Mr. Daniel Salifu Mansaray appealed that they extend their thanks and appreciation to members of their organization for coming to their aid during this difficult moment.
One of the beneficiary Isatu Kargbo thank the management and staff of Disaster Alert Network Sierra Leone (DAN-SL) for the gesture that they provided for them and pray that God will continue to elevate their organization.
She said that the items are very much timely which shows that they have love for their fellow Sierra Leoneans.
She prays that such disaster will never occur in the Sierra Leone and the World as a Whole and said that the items will be used for it real purposes.
She called on other Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to emulate the good example of Disaster Alert Network Sierra Leone (Dan-SL).
