Masada and Visionscape Deploy Disaster Relief Efforts To Sierra Leone

Following the horrific mudslide and flooding event in the outskirts of Freetown Sierra Leone, on the 14th August 2017, Visionscape Sanitation Solutions, a subsidiary of Visionscape Group, an environmental utility group out of Dubai, UAE with its waste management partner Masada Waste Management Company Freetown, have partnered to donate relief items to the affected victims.

Within the first 48 hours of the disaster, the Masada and Visionscape team diverted resources and were on the ground visiting victims of the majorly affected communities to show support and deliver much needed supplies. The partners distributed food, hygiene products, tents for shelter, bedding, bottles of drinking water and other items to help aid the displaced flood victims as they cope with this tragic loss.

The items were presented to the Office of National Security on behalf of the affected communities, witnessed by other stakeholders working together to ensure that victims are taken care of.

Sample of the donated items

Masada Waste Management Company, SL LTD is a fully-fledged waste management service provider in Freetown with a 20 years waste management concession from the Government of Sierra Leone and the Freetown City Council for waste management services (Waste Collection and Conversion) in Freetown; and is the main implementing partner of Operation Clean Freetown. The company is the largest waste management company in Sierra Leone with over 200 employees and 100% locally owned.

The donated items include: 400 bundles of water, 100 mattresses, 10 gallons of oil, 10 cartoons of toothpastes, 10 boxes of bathing soap, 10 cartoon of toothbrush, 100 bags of rice and 200 T-shirts.

The relief items were received by the Assistant Director in charge of Response attached to Disaster Management in the Office of National Security Senneh Mansaray. Mr Mansaray thanked Masada and Visionscape for their gesture. He said they now know Masada goes beyond.
