100 Bed Capacity for Kingharman Road Hospital

Information reaching this medium stated that, His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma will at the end of July turn sod for the construction of the Kingharman Road Hospital from less than 40 to 100 capacity beds.

Responding to an interview at the CCSL Compound which is the temporal location of the said health centre, Hospital Secretary, Tejan B. Bayoh assured that the clinic will be capacitated with advanced laboratory and all other necessary units upon completion.

He emphasized on the commitment of the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Abu-Bakarr Fofonah and the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brima Kargbo to meet the president recovery priorities to achieve affordable health care delivery system.

He said the construction project of the ultra-modern hospital has already been handed over to a Chinese construction company who are currently working on the plan at the site on Kingharman Road.

He said although they faced a lot of challenges in the hospital including water shortage due to the Road construction and electricity supply but they are working towards overcoming those bottlenecks in order to save lives of people in that vicinity. On the issue of acute water shortage, the Hospital Secretary said, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Mr. Banya has worked very hard and erected a water bouncer in the centre to minimize that problem.

He disputed the fact that, they are not admitting or performing surgery but refer patients in severe conditions to either Connaught Hospital or Cottage adding that they carry out observation on patients for a day or two.

He assured the public that the Kingharman Road Hospital is currently coping up with their new site as far as protecting life is concerned and encouraged all to that the centre will continue rendering its mandate until the new site is completed.
