College of Tourism Boosts Lungi International Airport

The College of Travel and Tourism Studies with campuses in Freetown and Lungi has boosted the human resource of the Lungi International Airport by providing technical training for its staff in their various courses.

Speaking on the significance of the training, the Acting Aviation Security Manager of the West Minister attached to the Lungi Airport, Aleen Taylor said the college has helped to boost security in the Airport giving the various trainings their staffs have acquired. She stated that there is a need for the airport security to be stepped up considering the increasing terrorists attacks in the world.

Madam Taylor made this disclosure at a lecture on the theme: “Evaluation of Aviation Security Operations” organized by the college for its graduates. She noted that the training has strengthened the personnel to be more determined in providing maximum security at the airport.

In his address, Principal of the college, Amadu Sheriff said over these three years, the college has provided fourteen scholarships to various students from different departments and has held nine graduation ceremonies. He noted that education is a continuous process and that with globalization and the rate of information flow these days, he added.  One must prepare to shed outdated information and relearn to stay relevant.
