JFK visits Sierra Leone UN Mission reconstruction site in NY

The Attorney General and Minster of Justice, Hon. Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara ( JFK ),  has visited the reconstruction site of the Chancery building of Sierra Leone’s  United Nations Permanent Mission in New York.

The Minister, who is in New York to attend the UN International Conference on Women and Children , inspected the various floors of the Mission which have already being torn apart for the work.

The reconstruction project of the Sierra Leone Mission at East 49th Street , New York, will entail an impressive refurbishment from top to bottom of offices and other attachments of the four-storey building. When completed, the Chancery will provide more comfortable space for diplomats and local staff representing the country at the UN.

The reconstruction work is a manifestation of the determination of the President Ernest Koroma Government to provide better and more comfortable housing, offices  and  working environments  for diplomats and local staff in Sierra Leone’s embassies and diplomatic missions abroad , a laudable initiative capable of boosting productivity and enhancing the image of the country abroad.

The projects also show the government’s determination to embellish the bilateral and multilateral relations between Sierra Leone and other nations and international organizations.

Last week, President Ernest Koroma, while attending  the 29th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the  African Union ( AU ) in Ethiopia inaugurated the newly-constructed Sierra Leone Embassy Complex in Addis Ababa.

All over the world, Sierra Leone’s embassies and missions are either being reconstructed and refurbished or new complexes are being built.

Little wonder that Sierra Leone ‘s Ambassador to Ethiopia , Mr. Osman Keh Kamara,   during the inauguration program, said that the name President Ernest Koroma is synonymous not only with good governance , but infrastructural developments.

Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Adikalie Foday Sumah , Head of Chancery Alhusine Sesay , the two Deputy  Permanent Representatives and other diplomats and local staff are in high spirits for the reconstruction work on the Chancery.
