APC Aspirant’s Football Trophy Ends Peacefully

Addressing spectators and the challenging teams at the grand final which marked the fifth edition of the competition, Kamara said the two giant teams have done extremely well to arrive at this point adding that the competition started from the beginning of Ramadan with other big teams like Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, Chelsea, PSG, Arsenal, Juventus, Liverpool among others but they were earlier eliminated from the race.

He went further to admonish young people to stay away from violent activities which he described as having tendency to create chaos. The grand final was climaxed when the aspiring MP issued fifty thousand Leones (Le50, 000) cash to the Manchester United first and only goal scorer, Abu Koroma.

The game played well in the first half with goalless draw between the two teams until the second half of play when Abu Koroma of Manchester United demolished the strong defense of Monaco side.

At 79 minutes of play, a troop of Police officers took over the field and ordered the match to discontinue, an action that brought about insecurity and disorderliness caused by the Police officers but they were calmed down by the aspiring MP who informed the Police Head of operation that the organizers of the competition were peaceful, responsible, productive and committed to the rules and regulations governing the game.

He described the competition as part of his political campaign to sensitize youths on the negative impact of violence ahead of the 2018 general elections. The aspiring MP concluded by extending thanks and appreciation to the winners, participating teams, organizers and community people to make the process a success story.
