Samu Chiefdom Eyes Momoh Mange Yillah for Councilor

Indigenes of Samu Chiefdom, Ward 136, Constituency 041 in the Kambia District who claimed to have suffered in their vicinity for many decades because of what they described as poor administration, have cautioned politicians that have aspired for Member of Parliaments (MP’s) and Councilors to be accountable to their subjects.

Speaking to a battery of Journalists, elders and youths of Samu Chiefdom have recommended Mr. Momoh Sankoh Yillah who contested for Council seat under the supervision of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party but lost to the incumbent, Mr. Abdulrahman Sesay in the 2012 local council election to be awarded symbol for the mentioned zone above because according to friends and fans, he is not only a son of the soil but a man who have proven human relationship with fellow human beings by laying his life for his people in the said chiefdom and even beyond through peaceful dispensation of justice or compromise as he was chosen to use his oratory diplomacy to guide innocent souls from the hands of frantic enemies by serving as mediator between them (rebel fighters) and the civilian population  during the height of the civil war  that witnessed human rights violations against citizens and the State.

The Samu residents, who desired their son to grab the envious post disclosed that they will be satisfied if the symbol for Ward 136 is awarded to Mr. Yillah who they said has lived with them for donkey years with no criminal record adding that they will feel disenfranchised if the All Peoples Congress (APC) party fails to award symbol to Mr. Yillah who happened to be a prominent business man in Freetown and a farmer at the Chiefdom under discussion.

In his thankful statement, the Councilor to be, Mr. Momoh Sankoh Yillah expressed gratitude to his people to bestow confidence in him and assured that if given the symbol and elected councilor, he will change positively what he described as bad politics that is hindering the progress of the chiefdom. He highlighted that ward 136 comprises four sections noting that he stooped down in the last local council election for the incumbent Mr. Abdulrahman Sesay for the fact that he don’t want to be petitioned or charged for election fraud by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) because he was not registered at the said chiefdom and constituency as a whole.

“I have registered this time with my wife, children and family relatives at ward 136 to vote solidly for myself if given the symbol” said Councilor hopeful and expressed happiness over the way and manner he was appreciated among people in Samu Chiefdom. Mr. Yillah explained plan to organize a big ward meeting when campaign activity is declare by NEC because he said, this is not time for politics and bragged that he has galvanized the youths and grass roots support.

Independent investigation also unearthed that the current Councilor, Mr. Abdulrahman Sesay has set eyes on Constituency 041 Parliamentary seat while another strong man of the APC party, Mr. Abu-Bakr Yillah aka Elder Y. has also demonstrated interest to contest for the same parliamentary seat.
