Police Raise Le4.5 Billion For Sierra Leone Government

The national traffic coordinator of the Sierra Leone Police force (SLP) Sergeant Daniel Bongroh has intimated newsmen at his Central Police Station office on Monday 19th June 2017 that him and his team have been able to raise the sum of 4.5 billion as fines accrued for government for the past nine months. Sergeant Bongroh highlighted that hundreds of motor bike riders, taxies and poda poda drivers have been arrested for various offences ranging from riding without riders license, driving without driving license, using unauthorized routes, defective windscreens, defective headlights, trafficator lights and back lights to name but a few.

He narrated that he would not relent in his duty and called on drivers to ensure that their vehicles are properly checked before plying the routes of Freetown.

He also called on the press to help the police in exposing corrupt police officers who are in the habit of extorting monies from drivers.

‘’I will not sit by and encourage police personnel to extort monies from drivers, superintendent Sovola said’’

He affirmed that, come next month, his traffic division personnel would engage in vigorous checking
