Illuminating Ladies Donate 50 Bags Of Cement To Maranatha School

Making the donation at the school grounds, the President of Illuminating Ladies, Rebecca Cooper said with love in their hearts and from the monthly contributions of members they donate to charity yearly, especially on 16th June, the Day of the African Child, that the donation to Maranatha Primary School is to help the school rebuild one of its buildings that used to house classes 4-6 that was destroyed by a storm on 10th May this year and appealed to other well-wishers and organisations to emulate the sterling example.
Rebecca Cooper said they want to help nurture less-privileged girls and support under-privileged communities to acquire quality education and morals recalling that they have also donated to the King George’s Old Peoples Home at Grafton, Paddy Pikin, Nehemiah Lifeline Orphanage at Wellington, donated 10 bags of rice, water and other items to victims of the flood disaster in Freetown few years ago and other disadvantaged organisations and urged the Tree Planting and Leicester Road communities to come to the aid of the school that caters primarily for less-privileged children to acquire education.
The President of the Illuminating Ladies further underscored that education and discipline are key to success and promised that they would effectively monitor the building project to ensure that the materials are utilized for their intended purpose enlightening that they are also mentoring 30 girls from different female secondary schools in Freetown.
The proprietor of the school, Pastor Theophelous Jumu thanked the organisation for the donation and prayed fervently for God to continue prospering its members, revealed that the school was founded in 2002 just after the civil war, has 612 pupils, 14 trained and qualified teachers and is government-assisted but lamented that the school lacks electricity, water supply and adequate accommodation
A teacher expressed similar sentiments while the singing of the school song and off-loading of the 50 bags of cement climaxed the well-attended event.
