Shankerdas, MP Donate School Materials

In line with their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through the CIDER project, G. Shankerdas and Sons has collaborated with the Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) for Constituency 102, Alie Kalokoh, in distributing millions worth of learning materials to twenty primary schools in the Kissy Area of Freetown.

The impressive donation ceremony took place at Sir AJ Hall, Government Technical Institute in Kissy on Wednesday, May 10th 2017. The occasion attracted in various community stakeholders, heads of institutions and the general public

The donated items included books, pens, pencils, geometry sets and other essential school materials.

In his remarks during the donation ceremony, the Chief Registrar, Government Technical Institute (GTI), Albert R. Bernard who chaired the occasion, described the distribution of the learning materials to the pupils as timely for the fact that they were about to take the National Primary School Examination (NPSE), adding that the materials would help them greatly to concentrate on the examination challenges ahead.

He thanked Shankerdas and Sons for complying with their Corporate Social Responsibility and encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the learning materials.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of G. Shankerdas and Sons, Nicholas Showyer, said it has been a tradition every year for the institution to distribute learning materials to school children as part of their CSR.

The PRO described education and community development issues as priority for the management of the company as he recalled that they donated fifteen bundles of Zinc and assorted nails to the MP for the roofing of JT Cole Pavillion at Kissy Mini Stadium.

Rev. Showyer concluded by stating that the gift will help the children to be useful people in society and improve their communities.

Delivering keynote address, the Member of Parliament for Constituency 102, Alie Kalokoh expressed readiness to always work closely with his subjects on any developmental activity. He thanked Shankerndas and Sons not only for honoring their CSR but also for the good work they have been doing and encouraged other institutions to emulate the good work of Shankerndas.

The MP stressed that the development of any nation depends mainly on the human resource.
