The deal contained in an MoU signed on Friday, February 24, entails the production of series of programmes by Salonejamboree exclusively for AVY TV.  Salonejamboree will use its own resources and expertise to produce the contents on business, tourism and entertainment.

Murtala Mohamed Kamara, Founder and CEO of Salonejamboree, signed on behalf of his company, while Anthony Navo Jnr, President and Chairman of AYV.  Mr Kamara thanked the AYV management for the opportunity.

Giving a background of SaloneJamboree, he said the initiative started with a website which was launched on the 29th of May, 2009 at the British Council Auditorium. He said the aim was to showcase and promote Sierra Leone’s rich untapped arts, entertainment and tourism industry.

As part of the deal, AYV is set to air a new Sierra Leonean made movie series called ‘The Company’. The television series which was filmed in the United States and Sierra Leone will be available exclusively to AYV after its premier in May 2017. It was done by the producers of the multiple awards winning film ‘High Fashion’ and it features Princess Jnap Sesay, Winstina Taylor, Jimmy Bangura, LAJ, David Vandy and Shadow Boxer, among a list of others.

According to Kamara, Salonejamboree is currently producing a number television shows which will soon be aired on AYV.

He thanked Mr Navo for fulfilling his promise of supporting the young people of Sierra Leone along the mantra of the original AYV idea.

By associating with Salonejamboree, Kamara added, Navo was also fulfilled a promise he made when the Salonejamboree website was launched.

“Mr. Navo pledged his commitment to support SaloneJamboree and today he is making good of that commitment,” Kamara, a journalist and entrepreneur, said at the signing ceremony in the Board Room of AYV at its Wesley Street headquarters in Freetown.

Kamara noted that AYV has changed the narrative on how people view television in the country.

Mr. Navo, for his part, noted that he had known Murtala Mohamed Kamara for quite a long time and that the young entrepreneur had long proven to be very consistent in what he does.

“I remembered we launched SaloneJamboree at the British Council and it has been in existence since then. Kudos to you Murtala and the rest of the team,” he said.

He added: “The issue of business in Sierra Leone…there are a lot of bottlenecks. I’m sure there has been some turbulence in your pursuit, however I want to encourage you to continue to do what you do. There is light at the end of the tunnel.”

Navo also urged the Salonejamboree CEO to endeavor to maintain quality, consistency and to be “very sincere” in what he does.

“I want to assure you of my continued support and promise you that this is going to be a journey of the thousand miles together with SaloneJamboree, AYV and the production company in America (the producers of ‘The Company’).”

Mr. Navo went on: “Our role is to promote Sierra Leone with young people. I have served as ambassador for young people for quite some time now and my motive is to promote young people with no ulterior movie. I pray that God almighty will continue to help me to promote Sierra Leoneans especially young people. I wish you all the best in your endeavors.”

Also present at the signing ceremony were some senior members of AYV , including its Director of Communications, Abdul Fonti Kabia.
