The agenda for prosperity is working – President Diane Fleming

The Associate Professor who doubles as the Executive Director of Ducere Foundation was speaking during a meeting with the Sierra Leone Import and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) Management at the Agency’s headquarters at Tower Hill, Freetown.

Prof. Fleming is here to do a pre-assessment visit in anticipation of a trade delegation comprising investors from Australia, America and Europe.

“What the President has achieved through the Agenda for Prosperity is extraordinarily amazing,” said Prof. Fleming. She however noted that the country needs to do more in preserving its natural endowment through strategic environmental policies.

She affirmed that we are allowing Sierra Leone’s natural beauty to be destroyed and this in itself loses our identity, adding that Sierra Leoneans need to be strong to make sure that “we don’t lose our values and sovereignty of incredible reasoning.”

The country has rich potentials in the Tourism, Agriculture and Mining sectors, but Prof. Fleming is of the view that Sierra Leoneans are not getting the required benefit.

“I am proud to be here but we must be thankful to Mr. Ansumana Usman Koroma-AUK, who has built a strong integrity over the years that has influenced policy direction of Australia-Africa relations. Mr. Koroma has the capacity to bring the international community by hand to his home country, Sierra Leone,” she told SLIEPA executive.

Mr. Koroma who is a Policy Analyst based in Australia is very passionate to support his President and people so that Sierra Leone will soon become an attractive trade destination.

Commending Mr. Koroma for bringing investors to support the Country, SLIEPA’s Executive Director-Raymond Gbekie said, “We are a resilient people and have resilient leadership that needs the required support. My team at SLIEPA is ready to give an open hand to facilitate the investment programs.”

Mr. Koroma has been very impressive by linking his homeland to people who will change our destinies for good. He maintained that they (SLIEPA) will not relax/relent until they succeed as a team in transforming the country and be part of the admirable story.

SLIEPA Executive Director assured that his Agency will utilize the experiences shared and the thoughts highlighted in the discussion. He promised to work with his counterparts to develop marketable projects that will add value to the Sierra Leonean products.

Whilst appealing to the President of the Australian-Africa Chamber of Commerce to invest in Education, SLIEPA’s Director of Export Development-Shiaka Kawa asked what investment model Australia offers, as there is dire need for partnership or investment in education.

In response, Prof. Fleming reiterated that she is coming with a trade delegation ready to invest in various sectors such as education, agriculture, energy, health, communications, mining and industry to accelerate President Ernest Bai Koroma’s Agenda for Prosperity.
