France Dworzak has won the grand finale of the recent Dworzak Community League organized at the Dwazark Community playing field in Freetown.

A total of 12 teams participated in the league but France and England qualified for the grand finale. France defeated England 5-4 in post-game penalty shootout.

The competition was sponsored by Emmans Corporation and Dworzak Veteran Football Association.

Chairman of the Dworzak Football Association, Emmanuel Bobby Rogers, said the grand finale ended as destined by God, noting that there was no incident of violence throughout the final.

He stressed that football is the main sport that will develop the youths. “Football can transform any community from negative into positive gains,” Chairman Bobby said.

He stated that the youths form the bulk of the country’s population and that Government should invest massively in them.

The Chairman however lamented that the Ebola epidemic claimed many lives in their community but they took solace in organizing the football competition in order to make their community as lively as before.

The Dworzak Veteran launched their vests at the end of the grand before certificates were awarded to deserving players of the competing teams.

“Given them the certificate and these vests will serve as a motivation to the community,” Chairman Rogers said

The   Deputy Minister of Sports, Ishmael Al-Sankoh Conteh, Hon. Amadu   Fofanah of Constituency 109 and the councilor of Ward 384 were all very much impressed with the way the youths have organized themselves in the Dworzak Community.

The Deputy Minister opined that the cooperation of the youths in the grand finale has manifested discipline, diligence and fortitude to move the community in a positive direction.

The coach of the winning team, Abdul Salam Barrie, and coach of the runners-up, Andrew Saffa were full of praises for their boys and thanked God for elevating them to that position.

They maintained that their efforts to reach the grand finale in a competition in which twelve teams participated was a blessing designed by God.

They also thanked the chairman for his relentless effort in promoting football in the Dworzak Community.

In his vote of thanks, Councillor Sheka Dumbuya of Ward 384 in Constituency 109 said the Dworzak Community is among the communities in the country that have growing youth population which he described as an opportunity from God.

The Councillor commended the youths for pioneering the Dworzak Environment and Sanitation Project which he said has helped coordinate the youths of the community.
