President Koroma cancels South Africa trip

The Outreach Coordinator in the Office of the Government Spokesman, Mr. Abdulai Bayrayta has disclosed that President Ernest Bai Koroma has cancelled his trip to South Africa in order for him not to miss being counted in the ongoing National Population and Housing Census.

In an exclusive interview with this paper over the weekend, he further revealed that a moratorium has been put on all Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Civil Servants to stay in the country and ensure that they are counted.

He also revealed that French Embassy that folded up in 1996 has been reopened in the country.

He also stated that currently the National Revenue Authority (NRA) is closing business houses that are refusing to honour their tax commitments to the Authority and urged business people to pay their taxes.

He stressed that Government is fully supportive of the NRA tax collection drive as it is only when local income generation increases that the country will have less dependence on donor funds.
