Ebrima Sohna to visit Sierra Leone in December

KuPs and Ghambian defensive midfielder Ebrima Sohna will be visiting Sierra Leone for a period of three weeks in December alongside Sierra Leone and Najran SC defender David Simbo.

The purpose of the visit is to meet with Ebola orphan children, and mothers affected by the deadly virus and also to launched the David Simbo Foundation in the Provinces.

This is the 26 year old’s first visit to Sierra Leone as he was born in Gambia by a Sierra Leonean mother and a Gambian father.  “Visiting Freetown will be a dream come true for me as we are coming to see children affected by the virus,” he told www.Footballsierraleone.net.

According to David Simbo they will be in Freetown on the 5th of December and in Freetown they will meet with the Minister of Gender and Children’s Welfare, The Minister of Sports, and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), before going to launched the DSF.

Simbo who has previously helped the Government in the fight against of Ebola by printing t-shirts, banners, and hosting of radio talk shows to disseminate the message about the harmfulness of the virus and how to prevent it, maintained that this time the children and mothers affected by the virus are his top priority, and that is why he brought in Sohna, as they share the the same vision.

The Najran SC also joined fellow teammates Kelifa Jabbie and Alfred Sankoh to donate food and medical items to the flood victims in Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, to climax the visit, a football match will be organized where will see a foreign based team play against the local based players, as Ebrima Shona will also be featured.

Sohna is a holding midfielder who with his fellow countrymen won the CAF U-17 Championship in Banjul 2005. He went on to be a key part of the Gambian team which beat Brazil in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru.

Sohna also helped the Gambia U-20 to qualify for the CAF U-20 Youth Championship CONGO 2007, where the Gambia came out third position thus qualifying for the FIFA U-20 Youth Championship in Canada. Back in Gambia where Sohna started his career in the youth system of Wallidan FC one of the top club in Gambian football.

Sohna scored his first international goal against Mexico on 30 May 2010
