IFAD boost Gola Agriculture Radio Station

As part of main streaming the media that promoter agricultural productivity in sierra Leone, it has been disclosed to this press that the Ministry of Agriculture forestry and food security (MAFFS) through the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has recently donated solar energy panels, Lap top Computer, Information technology accessories and other studio equipment to the tune of Twenty Thousand United States of American Dollars ($20,000.00)to the Gola Agriculture Radio FM 103.3 situated at Maxell Kobie Street in Kenema City, east of the country.

Presenting the items, the Project Coordinator, Ahmed Tejan Keller said that IFAD has been complementing the local farming population I Sierra Leone and their effort with their related partners ensure there is a better agricultural productivity nationwide.

He disclosed that the Gola Agricultural Radio station 103.3 are helpful in promoting useful information’s to residents in and around Kenema, Kailahun and  pujehun Districts noting that the solar energy system is a support to help the Frequency Modulation station sustain its transmission capacity to the people in those areas.

He revealed that IFAD project was established in Sierra Leone to eradicate hunger and poverty through agriculture and that their aims would be achieved with the help of media houses in the country through proper information dissemination.

He furthered that the media is an integral part of IFAD Project component and that the required support should be provided to augment its operational capacity coupled with effective participation on information dissemination with reference to the communities’ agricultural activities and programmers.

Receiving the items, the Station manager, Mohamed Saidu Jannah said that his media house wishes for such gesture to tackle the many challenges they face especially considering power supply during the dry season.

He thank officials of IFAD and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security for their support noting that it will go a long way in improving the general operations of the station and assured them that the facilities provided will be judiciously utilized for its intended purposes.

IFAD urged officials of the Gola Agricultural Radio Station to make good use of the gesture and assured his institution will continue their support to the station and others in the count.
