Frank Brugel sceptical of match-fixing allegations against Kargbo

According to reports, the Dutch football association (KNVB) is opening an investigation against the Sierra Leonean on alleged match-fixing of two matches in the top-tier Eredivisie.

In regards to these allegations, Brugel said: “I cannot remember him being tricky or sneaky, he had the body of a cage fighter, He was someone who commanded respect in the locker room.

“I just do not believe it. There were sometimes problems, but those were football technical issues and he could sometimes be a man and suddenly let go.

“On the field Kargbo a real leader, off the field he is always working for his family,” Brugel told Dutch website, ad.nl.

“Kargbo has never closed his eyes for his country and continued to help. Victim Is an African guy like Kargbo, who carries the rank much pressure, thus an easy victim for match fixers? The man pauses.

He added: “He was a very social boy with a heart for the club, his team and his family. During his spell with us he conducted several charity matches for the people of Sierra Leone for whom Ibrahim felt responsible.”

Kargbo 32 is one holder of Football for Peace Award because of his contribution towards the disadvantaged people in Sierra Leone, said: “I just want to say it never happened in my entire career, I have the same problem in Sierra Leone. It is never true. I’ve always had a clean slate and did my best.”

While playing a 2009 match against Willem II, he was racially abused by Marko Arnautovic – source m.bleacherreport.com.

According to De Volkskrant, the two games were against the two Dutch giants Ajax and Feyenoord and were fixed during the 2009-2010 season with the players involved paid 100,000 Euros.
