Impersonation of teachers and students using their degrees and other higher education level certificates by irresponsible and shameful persons is causing serious problems for the Ministry of Education Science and Technology and the country as a whole, Dr. Minkailu Bah stated.

The Education Minister further disclosed that his Ministry is faced with numerous challenges on the issue of people within the teaching profession, that are representing names of people who served in the teaching profession and are now dead and that these teachers are also in the habit of admitting children and students that do not live to the expectation of grades that will bring them acceptance credibility in certain schools now using the names of their colleagues that are also dead by the help of these ghost and corrupt teachers.

Dr. Bah revealed one Mr. David Kobby Jr. as a clear example of ghost representation who was caught applied with a fake first class degree from Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone seeking a job as a teacher in one of the learning institutions in Freetown where the certificate was later proved ghost ownership adding that according to investigations, the name David Kobby Jr. was not found in the records of the Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone.

The Minister furthered that it has also been revealed that there is a suspected case of a long serving Head Teacher that has forged his certificate in the name of his wife so that it can be used after he resigned considering himself no longer relevant for the learning certificate.

The Honorable Minister said that he is stating these instances in the meeting for the knowledge of the public and that these issues among others is very challenging faced by loyal members in his Ministry.

Dr. Minkailu Bah pleaded with members of the public to report cases of ghost teachers and students and that will help gear the nation into positive attitudes for the good of the next generation.

Meanwhile, the Minister affirmed that the on-going Radio and Television teaching program that was brought to his Ministry by members of Heal Sierra Leone is expected to be a long standing educative program on the media to help children that are common with the national television programs and radio to gain better knowledge after school hours adding, the program will further help ease the number of private classes organized by most unqualified teachers who are convincing children to stay out of home into various child malpractices.

Dr. Bah call on all parents to note the time of various teaching programs on radio and television and bring their children to cooperate with the knowledge passed to them from these identified professional teachers in the country.
