Ebola has wrecked our nation

The Ebola outbreak in the country has undoubtedly caused an untold hardship on the citizenry of this nation, created huge orphans and widows, caused over 20,000 job cuts and completely crippled the Mining, Business and Agricultural sectors of our society.

The aftermath of Ebola in the country is envisaged to be huge, bigger and more devastating than the aftermath of the 11-year war the country went through years ago.

The disease has affected every life in our society plunging the poverty stricken nation into more hardship with hardship boldly written on the face of almost all Sierra Leoneans in the country.

Interestingly, some say the uninfected are said to be the most affected hence they are suffering more in silence and nobody seems to pay any attention to their suffering. Some people have confessed that their homes have gone days without a single meal, and nutrient deficiency can be very catastrophic for the nation’s population.

Our nation and sub-region has been singled out presently facing a lot of stigmatization as if every live in Sierra Leone is infected with the Ebola virus.

This government has to be very proactive if we are to surpass the enormous prevailing challenges threatening the existence of our nation.

Ebola is a global disease that needs urgent global responses backed by robust action and not dormant pledges that take years to fulfill.
