MP tells constituents to be serious about Ebola

Freetown, August 25 (SLENA) – As a way of complimenting President Koroma’s call on his people to fight against the deadly Ebola virus in the country, the Member of Parliament for constituency 109, Hon. Amadu Fofarnah last Saturday August 23 mobilized stakeholders in his community at the Josben complex in Brooksfield in order to educate them against the Ebola virus on the theme ‘Awareness, Sensitization and Education. The meeting attracted government ministers, religious leaders, traditional authorities, councilors, youth groups, bike riders, representatives from the ministry of health, lawyers, the police and women’s groups.

In his keynote address, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Amadu Fofanah expressed his appreciation over his community’s acceptance of the existence of the disease as real and is affecting the sub region.

Hon. Fofanah urged the community to take the advices set out by health authorities in order to protect them from the virus, stressing President Koroma’s determination to combat the disease and had called on everybody to come on board to fight a common enemy.

While MP appealed to stakeholders to go by government’s decision and be a respecter of the law during the state of emergency, he went further to donate ninety-xix (9) wash hand buckets with chlorine and ten megaphones to be used to educate the community on the Ebola virus .

In his contribution, Dr. Vandi of Dworzack Health Center spoke on the signs and symptoms of Ebola while Dr. Sesay from Kingharman Road Health Center dilated on safety measures against the Ebola.

Rachael Macaulay of Pharmacy Board urged community members to see the hospital as the first point of call whenever the signs and symptoms of Ebola are suspected.

The Minister of Social Welfare Gender and Children’s Affairs, Alhaji Moijue Kaikai appealed to constituents to help fight the Ebola diseases together and stop the blame game as the disease is real.

He urged traditional and religious leaders to help in the propagation of the Ebola messages in their places of worship.
