Ibrahim Al- Zahrani, a businessman in his 40s, died at the King Fahd Hospital, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s second largest city, where he was admitted last Monday night after showing symptoms of viral hemorrhagic fever.

Preliminary testing at a specialized laboratory was negative for Dengue virus, a Spokesman at the Ministry told reporters shortly after his death, adding, other tests were carried out to determine if the source of the infection is yellow fever or another virus.

“The patient died of cardiac arrest, despite efforts by the medical team to resuscitate him,” a report in the ministry’s website said.

It added that the man will be buried in the Islamic manner, but under precautions laid down by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other related authorities.

The deceased’s case was widely reported in local and international media last Tuesday, which said the patient had been quarantined in a Jeddah hospital.
