U-17’s Milk Cup Northern Ireland…Two defeat for the Bellamy Academy Boys from Sierra Leone

The game was a close contest and another defeat for the boys from Sierra Leone from the Craig Bellamy Academy (CBF) at the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland.

Half-time: CBF 0-0 Vendee. Ground-breaking football from the young lads from CBF and GK John Fillie had to make a brilliant penalty save to keep his side in the match.

Vendee won by 1-0, however, despite the defeat they demonstrated immense quality and confidence in possession, again it counts for nothing, a bitter pill to swallow.

Vendee took the 3 points, with a late disallowed goal dashing any hopes for the boys from Sierra Leone’s comeback.

These two teams went into the game desperate for result; CBF team needed a victory the most having lost a previous encounter to Thistle; while Vendee stood out 3-1 over Chertanovo in their first match.

An excellent performance from the lads and they will be hoping to turn things around in their last fixture today against Co. Down at Scroggy Road.

Meanwhile, the 17-man squad from the Craig Bellamy Academy in Sierra Leone are still learning their trade, with 14 players having flown over from Sierra Leone and 3 graduates of the Academy joining up with their teammates – these graduates are all on scholarships at the Dunn School in California.
