$1.2M NASSIT Record Centre

A brand-new NASSIT Records Centre which is under construction at Newton by the SADAL Enterprise will be handed over to the Trust next month.

This was made known to journalists by the Acting Director-General of NASSIT, Joseph Sedu Mans, when he paid a day-long visit to the ongoing construction site on Friday, July 18th 2014, accompanied by a high- powered delegation of other senior NASSIT officials.

Mr. Mans told journalists that the new records centre is worth $1.2 million, adding that the building will be one of the best in the West Africa sub-region.

It will boast of a CCTV camera, humidifier, perimeter fencing, two giant generators, twenty-thousand liter water tank to combat fire in case of fire outbreak and many other modern facilities.

The diligent DG underscored the importance NASSIT attaches to records to ensure the speedy payment of retired and dead workers.

He spoke about the ISO 901 which is the national organization that addresses standards.

The Head of Records, Abdulai Kargbo, opined that records are not highly appreciated in third world countries but assured that the new management is poised to make a difference by giving NASSIT a facelift.

Director of System and Technology, Amara Kargbo, stressed the significance of records, noting that both hard and soft copies of NASSIT documents will be kept safely at the new records centre. He showered praises on the Acting DG for his tireless effort in trying to progress the Trust. He also commended the SADAL Enterprises for doing a good job.

According to Amara Kargbo, SADAL has been doing such laudable constructions in Kailahun, Bo, Kenema and Freetown. He noted that the Acting DG has been with the Trust since its inception and that he has no doubt about his performance.

President of NASSIT Staff Association, John Lamina, expressed his profound delight for the new centre, describing it as a praiseworthy venture taken by the board and management of the Trust. John Lamina pleaded with the management and board to replicate such project in othe operation areas of NASSIT.

Members of the delegation included the Head of Internal Audit and Human Resources, Hassan Bangura, the Head of Public Affairs and Customer Care, Usman Koroma and several others.
