Put your 6 months of endurance and pain in practice President Koroma tells recruits

The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma who also doubles as the Reviewing Officer and Commander in Chief of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has admonished the newly commissioning soldiers to put their endurance and pain in practice at the Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) Benguema Barracks Friday May 23rd 2014.

This took place during the commissioning ceremony of 205 recruits containing 42 Female Officers and 28 Direct Entry Cadets, 2 Medical Officers of RSLAF. During the commissioning ceremony and Passing Out Parade of the mentioned Force, the young men and women  who have gone through 6 months intensive training and applauded them the exercise is a call from God for the new  human resources to serve  their country with dignity, pride and a sense of nationalism.

Entering the Parade field which was filled in and out by invited Officials and onlookers, the Reviewing Officer accompanied by the Minister of Defense Hon. Paolo Conteh with few other government Officials were walking round the field inspecting the Commissioning Soldiers.

Addressing the mammoth crowd President Koroma firstly commissioned the two ranks of Second Lieutenant and Lieutenant and he congratulated the newly commissioned military and described them as young people who have worked hard to be modeled as train Soldiers. The Commander in Chief further emphasized that  RSLAF is the pride of our nation and he said further that RSLAF has answered the call of the global community to serve as peace keepers and has deployed more than a thousand troops in several countries like Lebanon, Haiti, Sudan, Mali, Somalia and the likes since 2006.

President Koroma intimated that the training and skills the newly commissioned Officers have acquired will be essential in executing their military tasks and maintained that the recruits and the cadets officers can now be proud to be who they are .

” I will do everything I can to support you and your family to strengthen professional military that we are building now in our country” President Koroma vowed and dilated he will ensure our security forces in the country live a better live. He declared his intention for the next four years to construct a battalion with modern barracks and he mentioned several contracts that has been concluded to refurbish the existing barracks and raised that Daru Barracks will soon have a modern hospital. He made it very clearly that every unit in the RSLAF will be supplied with brand new vehicle.

 Concluding, President Koroma acknowledge family and friends of the new members of the Armed Forces which according to him their roles has greatly help the young men and women to become RSLAF’s today.

In his welcome statement, the Training Group Commander Colonel Sorie Emmanuel T. Marrah expressed delight to His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for honoring their invitation as the Review Officer and quickly stated that one of the mandates of the Armed Forces Training Centre (AFTC) is to deliver basic training to trainees. He lamented that Direct Entry Recruit is one of the main courses conducted by the centre.
