The ground breaking ceremony for the proposed five (5) classroom building took place past weekend and was attended by a galaxy of dignitaries including Section Chiefs and other Local Authorities.

Rolal, 6 Kilometres from the District Headquarter town of Port Loko is one of the most deprived communities in the Northern District of Port Loko.

Unlike Tombo, Rothawa, Katempi, Kamaranka Bana and several other communities in the neighbourhood, Rolal  is never privileged to have a Primary School let alone a Kindergarten.

Parents who must make sure their children acquire   Western Education have to contend with doing the  farm work all  by themselves while their  children are  accompanied to long distance as there are no day care centers in Rolal.

Those unfortunate ones often find themselves in the streets when situations become unbearable, while those who trek the long distance   often ended up being impregnated   and eventually drop out of school.

This is the reason; the community was overwhelmed with thanks and appreciation to the Executive Director of the Amazonian Initiative Movement, Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay who doubles as the Country Representative of PFEPER MINZ GREEN.

Regent Chief of Romacca Section, Ibrahim Sapateh Sesay and Osman Samba Kamara of Masethelleh Section described this development as ‘a dream come- true’. They opined that the existence of a kindergarten in their locality would serve as motivation to parents who would now be able to monitor the performance of their children on a daily basis.

Dr. Amadu M. Bangura,  a Community Activist who attended the ceremony  stated that the need to cater for the young  especially at the Pre School level cannot be overemphasized  noting that such a project offers a start for the learning population and the  enhancement of easy access to quality education.

The project goes a long way in complementing Government’s efforts in its bid to ensure quality education in that part of the country.

Dr. Bangura said it further enhances what he referred to as ‘home participation’ now that the School is located in their Community.

In her statement,  Project Coordinator, Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay said she was not only honoured by all the good sentiments expressed by natives, but also enkindled to look at the possibilities of having such facilities extended to other deprived communities. She said the Pre School is being funded by the PFEPER MINZ GREEN; a German based Non- Governmental Organization that has already constructed a Primary School at Rolal Village. She said the Pre School project is a five (5) classroom building that comprises of accommodation facility   for Teachers.

Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay told the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA) in an interview that she first met with the Executive Director of PFEPER MINZ GREEN, Stella Rotenberburg at Frankfort, Germany whom she convinced to extend operations to Sierra Leone in the Northern District of Port Loko in Particular.

She said they have secured a vast land for additional project the Organization may wish to embark on in the near future and therefore encouraged the people to embrace the project as it has the potential of benefiting children yet unborn.
