Ghana’s U-20 Black Satellites defeat Sierra Leone’s Shooting Stars 2-0 in Bo

The Ghanians U-20 Black Satellites gained first leg advantage after a classic 2-0 victory over their counterparts Sierra Leone’s Shooting Stars on Saturday in the 2015 African Youth Championship 2nd-round qualifier at the new 4,000 seat President Ernest Bai Koroma stadium in Bo City.

Three times African Champions Black Satellites (in photo) played an outstanding game and proved too strong in midfield for the host and were untroubled by the Shooting Stars.

Dennis Tetteh  put the Ghanaians ahead in the 38th minute with a sublime finish after dictating the pace after the half-hour mark.

With seven minutes to full time, Inter Allies midfielder Prosper Kassim added the second goal to put the match beyond their hosts.

Black Satellite, the former FIFA U-20 World Champions and African Youth Champions have taken a huge step in their quest to reach the final qualifying round of the competition. The return leg will be played at the Tamale Stadium on 25 May.

With Satellite’s two away goals advantage, they are expected to face the winner of the 2nd-round contest between Gabon and Rwanda.

Meanwhile, Senegal will host the 2015 African Youth Championship between 8-22 March, 2015.

The semi-finalists from the eight-nation tournament will qualify to the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
