Non state actors and Audit Service in dialogue forum

The event, which took place at Santona House in Freetown, was chaired by the National Coordinator for Non-State Actors in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development ministry, Mr Amadu Sidi Bah.

In his opening remarks, Mr Amadu Sidi Bah welcome the dialogue forum and the face to face encounter with Audit Service Sierra Leone, noting that the Audit Service was  doing an excellent job by informing the general public about the activities of MDAs in relation to funds allocated to them by government.

He commended the Public Account Committee in parliament for investigating the report of the Auditor General and handing it over to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice to act it.

Mr. Bah promised to work with the Audit Service to popularize the report of 2011.

Whiles explaining the roles, laws and activities that govern the operation of the Audit Service Sierra Leone, the Principal Auditor attached to the Public Account Committee in parliament, Mr. Alfred Saffa, said after the Audit Service had completed it findings, the document was then laid in parliament for the consumption of the general public and that of the Public Accounts Committee.

In his contribution to the discussion, Mr Abubakarr Kamara from the Budget Advocacy Network said there was the need to work with the Audit Service in order to make the general public understand the operation of the PAC in parliament on the auditing process of funds given to MDAs.

The Public Relations Officer of Audit Service, Martin Sandy touched on the activities and operations of Audit Service Sierra Leone.

During the dialogue forum questions and clarifications formed part of the one day programme.
