Church leaders end four-day regional training

Bo, Jan. 23 (SLENA) – Mission for Sierra Leone in partnership with World Vision Sierra Leone has ended a four-day regional training for Church Leaders  at the Bishop Gbonda Hall, Dambala Road in Bo on the theme ‘Celebrating Families: A Journey Together’.

In an interview with SLENA shortly after the training programme, the Christian Commitment Officer, World Vision SL, Bo, Bonthe and Pujehun, Rev. Thomas Beckley, said the focus of the training is to combat factors responsible for the unbearable performances of our children in the country and to map out new strategies for the families.

Rev. Beckley highlighted pitfalls in their operations, pointing out that they were targeting the children, leaving their parents and families behind. “It is against the backdrop that World Vision Sierra Leone has decided to collaborate with Mission Sierra Leone to organize such training.

The expected outcome, he affirmed, is to see the direct beneficiaries passing on the message and knowledge gained to their various congregations in order to change the lives of their children.

On his part, the Country Director, Mission for Sierra Leone, Rev. Peter Kainwo expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to World Vision SL for their timely intervention and support and described the training as a move in the right direction.

He encouraged participants to make use of the training, adding that their role as church leaders always makes them capable of addressing issues that affect families’ growth in the church.

At the end of the training workshop, participants promised to collaborate with Mission Sierra Leone, World Vision and the country for the moral nurturing of children across the country.
