Marriage is the only legal institution to bring about family which is the nucleus of the society a very important and essential part of a Muslim life.

In order to help build a good Islamic and God fearing home according to the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace and blessing be upon him), he categorically condemned and prohibited extra marital relationship

The Why Islam in Action foundation in collaboration with the foundation for human right, freedom and humanitarian relief IHH based in Turkey on Wednesday 18th December 2013 sponsored 15 couples by helping meet the pillars and conditions of Islamic marriage at a ceremony held at Grafton Police Hall.

In his remarks the Executive Director of Why Islam in Action foundation Alhaji Musa Bangura disclosed that prior to the ceremony they had ensured that all the pillars and conditions of marriage have been met by conducting series of orientations with both families. He revealed that during the process they invited Imams to lecture would be couples about the importance, rights and duties of marriage in Islam

Alhaji Musa Bangura assured the audience that his organization does not only focus on doing dawah but also help others to foster change in society. He said that since his organization comprising mostly reverts to Islamic religion are usually faced with so many challenges as some of them are abandoned for accepting the Islamic faith.

Alhaji Musa Bangura said that after conducting series of lectures about the dos and don’ts of the blessed union they have so far received assurance from the couples that they will strengthen their relationships and live together. He informed the audience that they will continue to follow up on various homes to ensure peace and hope to continue in building such a blessed union as over fifty couples have benefitted so far since their inception.

In his remarks the Regional Chief Imam Western Rural Alhaji Mohamed Finoh Koroma cited several verses in the Holy Quran that emphasized the importance of marriage and  admonished the audience of a verse in Surah Nisa Chapter 4 verse 4 which says “And give to the women (whom you marry) their Mahr (obligatory bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage) with a good heart; but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, take it, and enjoy it without fear of any harm (as Allah has made it lawful).

Alhaji Mohamed Finoh Koroma lauded the efforts of Why Islam in Action for encouraging youths to enter in such a lawful union and urged them to continue their good work in order to contribute to the development of the society which according to him is plague with “tap to me ”.

Alhaji Mohamed Finoh Koroma described the relationship between men and women, as one that is built on love, harmony, trust and compassion. He admonished the couples that the most important aspect of being able to live with each other for the rest of your life is your ability to compromise.

Alhaji  Koroma said that the prophet Mohammad (SAW) has said, ”Marriage is my tradition who so ever keeps away there from is not from amongst me”. [Narrated by Ibn-e-Majah]. He ended his statement with prayers for the 15 young couples and the Why Tslam in Action Foundation.

The Marriage ceremony was conducted by Alhaji Abdul Basith Turay supported by other Imams at Grafton.

In an interview with one of the beneficiaries Gassimu Bundu, he expressed his gratitude for being able to fulfill one of the most important aspects of his religion and expressed thanks to Why Islam in Action for fulfilling his dream and urged them to continue as most youths are afraid of marriage because of the expenditure involved. He assured all that he will make good use of the opportunity to live in peace and   harmony with his wife and pray for Allah’s direction to see them through.

The ceremony was climaxed with distribution of envelope amounting to the tune of 20 Million Leones as dowry, parents fee, start up amount etc.
