‘Sack Inspector General Munu now!’ – Mohamed Bangura

The Leader of the United Democratic Movement (UDM), Mr. Mohamed Bangura, has said on the “Good morning Salone” programme over Radio Democracy FM 98.1 that he was going to mobilize civil society organizations to call on President Ernest Bai Koroma to sack the entire Executive Management Board (EMB) of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) on the grounds that they are incompetent as they could not manage a very simple strike action by school pupils.

He stressed that this is not the first time that the Sierra Leone Police has been involved in indiscriminately maiming and killing people with impunity.

He maintained that very soon he will bring a legal suit against the Sierra Leone Police for killing unarmed civilians, adding that it is now time for President Koroma to sack Mr. Francis Alieu Munu (in photo) and his team of the Police High Command.

He pointed out that the Sierra Leone Police needs more training for them to be able to handle strike actions while also blaming some politicians of sending criminals to be enlisted into the Sierra Leone Police Force.

The UDM Leader warned that if President Koroma did not overhaul the entire Executive Management Board of the Sierra Leone Police, there is all likelihood that the people of Sierra Leone who have lost patience with the antics of the Police will one day rise against them.

It could be recalled that few months ago the SLP shot and killed an American citizen at Lumley beach, killed two students at the wellington estate, killed an okada rider at Goderich, killed two innocent people at Bumbuna, and recently killed an innocent child at the Ansaru Islamic Secondary School as the list goes on and on

When contacted to explain whether he gave the orders for the Operational Support Division (OSD) to open fire on the Ansarul secoindary School children the Head of the Operational Support Division (OSD), Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tamba Thomas Kamara said that he cared less about public opinion on the Police as the people do not know about security. He stated that this Reporter should leave him alone and direct such questions to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Francis Alieu Munu as he is in charge of the Sierra Leone Police.

It could be recalled that ever since Mr. Francis Alieu Munu took over the reigns of the Sierra Leone Police, lawlessness has become the order of the day as the Police now behave as if they are above the law.
