ABC – Development contributes to reduction of infant mortality rate

Kambia, Nov 11 (SLENA)- The District Coordinator of ABC Development, Alimamy Sembu Kamara has told SLENA that some the interventions of ABC Development are based on three components, namely, health, education of the girl child and food production such as farming.

According to the coordinator, in the area of health, they train community health workers (CHWs) to administer treatment for malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea for under-five children in eight hundred and five (805) communities in the Kambia district over the past three years which have evidently contributed immensely to the reduction of high infant mortality rate and funded by UNICEF through IRC AND CARE.

ABC Development in partnership with care is also implementing a three-year European Union funded that is meant to build and strengthen the capacity of communities to make maximum utilization.

Furthermore, they are also intervening in promoting the girl child education in the district through the establishment of a girl’s secondary school funded by Sunday Foundation, an international partner.

In the area of food security, ABC Development is also supporting farmers with seedlings and micro credit for women’s groups, thereby significantly promoting the agenda for prosperity.
