Moyamba, Nov. 6 (SLENA) – The National Executive of a local non-governmental organization, APEM (Association of Peoples Empowerment), Chief Gasperd Saffa Gbokoh Ngevao has completed the distribution of mobility facility to fifty (50) natural leaders in the Kongbora Chiefdom in the Moyamba District.

The fifty bicycles were presented to natural rulers that have performed well in the on-going DfID and UNICEF funded Community and School Led Total Sanitation (C&SLTS) programme in the chiefdom.

During the distribution exercise, Chief Ngevao stressed the importance APEM and other international donors attach to the maintenance of the health status of that community as it constitutes one of the major activities in the global fight against poverty in that part of the country.

He said as health facilitators, they have the civic responsibility to sustain the supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the CLTS including water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in school project activities in their respective localities.

In another development, APEM has trained one hundred School Management Committees (SMCs) on management of school toilets and water wells at the Sierra Leone Catholic School in Bauya town in that chiefdom.
