Chief Somanoh Kapen warns SLPP

Supporters of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) have on Monday, October 21, welcomed home their Chairman and Leader, Chief Somanoh Kapen at their party headquarter office at Wallace Johnson in Freetown after a successful visit to London.

Speaking during the opening session was the Regional Chairman SLPP Western Area, Mr. Manso Dumbuya, he expressed happiness and lauded supporters for their determination to kick the All Peoples Congress (APC) out and bring the SLPP to power in 2017.

He noted that the meeting was called in order to appreciate what God has done for them. He described SLPP as a transparent party, stressing that Britain has recognized the leadership of Somanoh Kapen and the entire SLPP executive.

He explained that Chief Somanoh Kapen left the shores of Sierra Leone to London on September 29 to honor an invitation made by the Conservative Party in London after their successful convention held this year in Bo City.

He admonished supporters to be steadfast and ready to work for the victory of the party in the next elections. He observed that they will never win power and match to State House if they do not add to the figures they scored in the previous elections.

Delivering his speech, Chief Somanoh Kapen described the forum as a meeting of mixed feelings among those that constitute the leadership of SLPP. He said it is his own responsibility as head of the party to give advice on certain pertinent issues that will help them as a family. He admonished supporters and key members of the party to fight a just cause to achieve positive results but not to castigate people’s characters. He emphasized how supporters often shout the party’s slogan, “One people One country,” but according to him, deep down they do not behave that way.

He noted that if they did not win an election, they will not get Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Ambassadors among others and added that, those who support the SLPP should stand to suffer which he described as a spirit of sadness.

He said he was happy to report that the APC and SLPP are working together in Parliament to bring sustainable development to the country. He confessed that they needed the support of Western and Northern regions otherwise the party will never win an election in the country.

He advised members not to send out messages that will disrupt the smooth functioning of the party and swore that God will destroy anyone who tried to mess up their party.

He observed that their London visit might not be important if unity was absent among party members. He condemned tribalism and regionalism while urging all members of the party to regard themselves as one big family.
