A Sierra Leonean born to shine in UK

A 24 year-old Sierra Leonean London based singer, Sampha Sisay (in photo) who uses the synonymous stage name Sampha, the younger brother of Sierra Rutile Chief Executive Officer John Sisay, is an electronic music singer-songwriter and producer from Modern, South London, United Kingdom and has released two solo; ‘Sundanza 2010 and Dual 2013.

Sampha is best known for his timeless collaborations with SBTRKT’s self-titled record released in 2011 and more recently produced ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’ for Jessie Ware and vocalized alongside her on ‘Valentine.’

Sampha is embarking on another promising partnership with Koreless, a name that has been present on both LOW-LIFE’s 2011 and 2012 retrospectives with his tracks ‘4d’ and ‘Lost In Tokyo’.

Under the guise, Short Stories, the duo will be unchaining two stunning tracks, releasing On The Way/Let It Go via Young Turks on January, 28th.

Funnily enough the ‘On The Way’ was listened to way back in 2010 during Koreless’s Boiler room set before the song seemed to disappear into thin air as listeners will be grateful to air it resurface.

‘Let It Go’ was produced more recently and recorded over two days in the very same studio that The xx wrote Coexist.

The R&B vocalist and producer Sampha is best known for his collaborative work.

However, with the release of his ‘Dual’ EP via Young Turks, and more especially the closing track of the EP ‘Can’t Get Close’ which has shown that Sampha’s teeming emotion does not necessarily require a collaborative effort.

The sixth and final track of the EP is a beat-less gospel-esque layer cake of beautiful harmonies with Sampha’s raw lead vocals dressed overtop.

The South London R&B crooner, Sampha has been featured heavily on SBTRKT appearing on five of the eleven tracks, since then, he showed up on a number of collaborations, working alongside the likes of Jessie Ware and most recently Drake and many people heard Sampha’s voice on SBTRKT.

Sampha has come through with news of his first solo project; an EP entitled Dual, which will arrive on July 29th via Young Turks. ‘Without’, the lead single, sees Sampha artfully melding acoustic and electronic sounds to create a fine piece of digital soul.

He has been featured with several artists include; Valentine with Jessie Ware (2011)-Young Turks; On Your Own with Lil Silva (2011)-Good Years; Short Stories – Koreless & Sampha (as Short Stories) – (January 2013) – Young Turks
